The High Court has adjourned the trial of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and seven other individuals implicated in the controversial Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) announced on Monday, 24 November 2025, that the court would not hear the case as initially scheduled. A new date is expected to be communicated to both the state and the accused.
The charges, filed on 18 November 2025, include 78 counts against Mr Ofori-Atta and the other defendants. They centre on alleged breaches of Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and Section 92(2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663). The case is being heard under file number CR/0106/2026 in the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra.
According to court documents, the accused are alleged to have conspired “to directly or indirectly influence the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of a contract,” in breach of procurement and criminal laws.
“Conspiracy to commit the criminal offence of directly or indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract, contrary to section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and section 92(2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663).”
Besides Mr Ofori-Atta, those facing prosecution include former GRA Commissioners-General Dr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti; senior GRA officials Isaac Crentsil and Kwadwo Damoa; Ernest Akore, former Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Finance; Evans Adusei, owner of SML; and the company itself.
