Controversial Request Dubar Security: Deposed Emir Bayero fails to honour Police request

As the controversy over the purported letter of security cover for his Eid ceremony rages, reports confirm that the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, failed to fulfil a security request of sending his palace councillors to a meeting at the Police Headquarters.

Emir Bayero was confirmed to have sent a letter written by his Palace Secretary, Abdullahi Kwaru to the Police asking the Command to provide to him with enough security cover for his prepared forthcoming Sallah Durbar.

The letter read in part, “We write to request for the Police deployment for the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero Sallah Eid activities including Durbar and Hawan Nassarawa traditional outings”.

The Kano Police also responded in a letter dated 10-6-2024, requesting that the Emir or his Dubar Committee come for a meeting for a security assessment of the situation as is the practice while his letter is being considered.

However, reports emerged from the Command that neither the deposed Emir Bayero nor his subjects responded to the police requests to send a high-placed delegation for the Security meetings.

Another letter emanating from Emir Bayero’s camp calling on all his Hakimai, District Heads, to come to the city for the Salla Durbar emanated, although it has been reported to be fake.

The new letter asking the District Heads to come to the City was said to have been written by the Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sunusi, however, all efforts to verify its genuineness have proven difficult.

Our Correspondent learned that the said Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sunusi who allegedly wrote the request letter for District Heads, has been sick and had not been seen at the Nassarawa Palace or Gidan Dabo Emir Muhammadu Sanusi’s Palace.

The letter was allegedly written and signed on his behalf, “For him”, while the originator of the letter also did not append his name or signature to the letter.

Speaking to our correspondent on the phone, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said the Command still awaits the arrival of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero Dubar Committee for the security and assessment meeting.
