The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Waidi Shuaibu, on Thursday, paid his first operational and assessment visit to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.
Shuaibu, who arrived at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, was received by the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and other senior officers.
During the visit, the army chief held a closed-door meeting with principal officers and commanders to assess ongoing military operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in the North East.
Speaking after the meeting, Gen. Shuaibu commended the troops for their resilience and assured them of continued support to boost their morale and effectiveness in the field.
He pledged to prioritize the welfare of soldiers and ensure that entitlements, including allowances and other benefits, are promptly paid.
“My visit is to appreciate the troops for their efforts in securing the North East and to understand firsthand the challenges they face,” Shuaibu said. “We will ensure that soldiers receive what is due to them on time, while also extending support to their families.”
The COAS also promised transparent administration within the army, fair appointments, and a commitment to justice and merit-based command structures.
