Hot SourceThe community of Doryumu near Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region is buzzing with excitement following the official launch of the Bright International Amusement Park at Afienya, a project set to become the largest man-made amusement facility in sub-Saharan Africa.
During the sod-cutting ceremony, Simpim Afredi Katamanso Yilagbeye I, the Stool Father of the Hiowe Gblaka Family, expressed profound joy and gratitude over the more than 10,000 jobs already created by the project long before its official completion.
“This is a dream come true for our youth and our entire community,” the Chief said.
“It is rare to see development that immediately begins to impact lives. To see over 10,000 of our people already employed is not only a blessing but a sign of a brighter future”, he added.
The sod for the project was formally cut by President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday, October 4, 2025, marking the official beginning of construction.
The President also gave assurances that the park would enjoy a constant supply of electricity from the Bui Power Authority, helping to ensure smooth and uninterrupted development.
Chief Yilagbeye also praised Greenhouse International, the developers behind the project, for their leadership and commitment to local empowerment.
“This is more than an amusement park,” the Chief remarked.
“It is a symbol of progress and resilience. It brings hope, tourism and transformation to the Dangme people”, he noted .
He further extended appreciation to successive Ghanaian governments from 2010 to date for their role in the reclamation and development of family lands, which paved the way for such a landmark initiative.
Once completed, the Bright International Amusement Park will feature an artificial beach, conference centre and a range of modern recreational amenities to attract both domestic and international tourists, putting the region on the map as a top destination in Africa.
