The appointment, according to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, takes immediate effect.
Kula noted that with Adamu’s experience and proven track record, the governor believes that he “will be able to properly and diligently steer the affairs of Muslim pilgrims” in the state at all times.
While congratulating the new appointee, the governor emphasized the importance of upholding the ideals of the administration, urging him to prioritize the interests of Benue State in all his official engagements, as encapsulated in the administration’s vision and mission.
The governor charged the new chairman of the board to familiarize himself with the vision and mission of the administration, as outlined in the blueprint titled “A Strategic Plan for a Greater Benue,” which will serve as a guide.

Police take over PDP secretariat in Rivers amid leadership crisis
Personnel of the Nigerian Police have taken control of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. A tactical unit of the Rivers State Police Command deployed a special squad to the area, blocking a section of the road and the main entrance to the secretariat with a patrol van.
Police take over PDP secretariat in Rivers amid leadership crisis
Personnel of the Nigerian Police have taken control of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A tactical unit of the Rivers State Police Command deployed a special squad to the area, blocking a section of the road and the main entrance to the secretariat with a patrol van.
The police have restricted access, preventing any individuals from entering the premises.
The blockade has disrupted traffic flow, forcing motorists to use a single lane along the busy Aba Road.
The development follows the emergence of a new leadership in the PDP in Rivers State.
Nname Robinson Ewor was appointed Acting Chairman after a Rivers State High Court sacked Aaron Chukwuemeka and his executive committee.
Addressing party members, Ewor stated that Chukwuemeka is no longer recognized as the PDP State Chairman but may continue as Chairman of the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI.
He reaffirmed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the leader of the PDP in the state by virtue of his position as governor.
Ewor also urged the public to disregard any claims suggesting that former Governor Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is the leader of the party in Rivers State.

The Bauchi State Government has approved the recruitment of 3,000 teachers to address the teacher-student ratio gap in Junior and Senior Secondary Schools across the state.
The Project Coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, Malam Ali Gar, disclosed this during a sensitization meeting on the Girls Scholarship Programme with stakeholders in Bauchi Local Government on Thursday.
He stated that 2,000 teachers would be deployed to Junior Secondary Schools, while 1,000 would serve in Senior Secondary Schools.
According to him, the recruitment is a critical step in fulfilling conditions for implementing the AGILE project in the state.
“The teachers will be on the state government’s payroll, not the AGILE project. They will be recruited from benefiting communities to ensure maximum participation, ease monitoring, and enhance ownership,” Gar explained.
In addition to the teachers’ recruitment, the AGILE project will commence Conditional Cash Transfers for 9,000 selected beneficiaries within two weeks.
The Project Coordinator further stated that the scheme provides N15,000 as a registration fee and N20,000 as a stipend for the first term, adding that beneficiaries will receive N10,000 for the second and third terms, provided they achieve at least 75% attendance.
Gar mentioned that ICT facilities and skills acquisition tools have already been procured for the project. However, only 9,000 out of the targeted 20,250 beneficiaries have been registered within ten weeks.
He urged stakeholders to monitor school activities to ensure teachers fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Alhaji Mahmood Babama’aji, lauded the AGILE team for its efforts and expressed confidence in the School-Based Management Committees’ ability to deliver on their mandate.

Former Ogun State governor, now representing Ogun East in the Senate, Gbenga Daniel, and the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Ladi Adebutu, have expressed their condolences over the passing of Adewunmi Onanuga, popularly known as Ijaya. Onanuga represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North constituency in the House of Representatives.
Daniel, expressing shock over her demise, described Onanuga as a close confidant, trusted younger sister, and a highly resourceful and responsive politician.
DAILY POST reports that Onanuga, aged 59, and the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, reportedly passed away in a UK hospital on Wednesday after being ill for over two months.
In a condolence message on Thursday, Daniel stated that the late lawmaker was not just a remarkable politician but also a beacon of hope and inspiration for women aspiring to participate in politics.
Daniel said: “She was a close confidant and associate who reposed so much confidence in me, and her painful passage could not have come at a more painful moment for me because I seem to have lost a younger sister.
“I might have lost the right words to capture this sad moment, but I believe she has only gone to take her much-needed rest with her Maker, though too soon, too sudden, and very much unexpected.
“Remoland has lost a great inspiration for women’s aspirations as she embodied an unquenchable ‘can-do’ spirit, always full of life and attracting a great deal of respect. She was not just a politician but one with a remarkable difference, making her impact felt wherever she found herself.”
Similarly, Adebutu highlighted that, although she was on the platform of another political party, her leadership style and passion for community development left an enduring impact not just in her constituency but across Ogun State and Nigeria.
He said: “Hon Onanuga was a trailblazer and an inspiration to many, especially women aspiring to leadership roles. Her unwavering commitment to the well-being of her constituents and her ability to create meaningful change will be remembered for years to come.”
Adebutu extended his sympathy to her immediate family and the people of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North constituency, offering prayers for divine strength and comfort during this period of grief.
