A 49-year-old fisherman, Wofa Samuel Armah, popularly known as Kofi Nyan, has been arrested by police in the Central Region for the brutal defilement of a 13-year-old girl, an act he bizarrely framed as a form of debt repayment.
The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, occurred at Mudford, a suburb of Apam.
A disturbing video of the act, now in the possession of Crime Check TV GH, shows the suspect on top of the minor while a crowd looks on. In the video, Armah is heard justifying his actions by claiming the girl had stolen GHC800 from him.
Despite the victim’s pleas for him to stop so she could find the money to repay him, the fisherman insisted she had to “endure” the sexual activity as settlement for the debt.
“Me w)w de ate ka. One hour biaa y3 GHC 200,” Armah is heard telling the terrified girl—translating to, “We are having sex. Every hour is GHC200.”
He further stated that he was determined to “teach her a lesson” by continuing the act until 12 pm, ignoring her protests.
Shockingly, while some individuals in the crowd were heard cheering Armah on and demanding different sexual positions from the child, others appeared dismayed by his actions.
Police sources indicate that the suspect lured the victim into a ghetto at Mudford to carry out the act.
Following the circulation of the video, Armah was arrested and is expected to be arraigned before court. Authorities have also launched a manhunt for four accomplices who are currently on the run.
The victim has been taken to the St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and necessary treatment.
