The Senate Chairperson for Women Affair, Ireti Kingibe on Friday said Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti has enjoyed more privileges than the other three female senators.

Kingibe disclosed this while insisting that the other three senators have not been sexually harassed by their male colleagues.

Her comment came against the backdrop of Natasha’s allegation of sexual harassment against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The lawmaker claimed that most of her privileges were denied and her motion turned down for refusing Akpabio’s sexual advances.

Natasha’s allegation came to light after a heated altercation with Akpabio over sitting arrangement on the floor of the Upper Legislative chambers.

But, Akpabio’s wife, Unoma accused the Kogi Central Senator of lying against her husband.

However, speaking with Arise Television, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, said: “The Senate is not a place where we are supposed to fight over trivialities like sitting arrangements.

“It’s a place where we fight about issues that affect the people and that’s why this whole thing is a none issue. We expected that because it was only four of us we would get privileges but we don’t get them, we fought to get there and the fight continues until we can get more women in the Senate.

“If we don’t get privileges does not mean that we don’t get our rights, the three of us have not been sexually harassed, but that is not to say if Natasha can prove that she has been, we will support her.

“But she has never discussed it with us and we don’t know about it, she did not respond to the rest of the female senators and has not spoken to anyone of us through our this whole episode.

“Natasha has had the most privileges among female Senators, l have been moved 4 times from my seat…There is hardly anything done to us that is not done to other men in senate …Women must follow the rules of the institution they choose to join.

“I called Natasha twice before reaching out to her husband, but she didn’t return my calls.”
