A soldier with the Ghana Air Force, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams, has been arrested by military police for allegedly assaulting a young woman and a pharmacist at Burma Camp in Accra.
Sources within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) revealed that the incident occurred earlier this week inside a pharmacy located within the camp. WO1 Williams, who is reportedly attached to the Office of the Chief of Staff, is said to have physically attacked the victims in what witnesses described as an unprovoked confrontation.
A video circulating on social media shows a tall, dark-complexioned man angrily confronting the pharmacist before slapping him. The footage further captures the soldier turning on a female customer and delivering several blows to her head after she attempted to record the altercation on her phone.
Eyewitnesses said the attack left both victims visibly shaken.
Military police officers at the scene swiftly intervened and arrested WO1 Williams. He has since been handed over to the Cantonments Police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Although the Ghana Armed Forces have yet to release an official statement, sources within the military say internal disciplinary proceedings will likely be initiated against the soldier in accordance with GAF regulations should he be found guilty of misconduct.
