An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan presided over by Justice Ladiran Akintola, yesterday extended its earlier order restraining the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc from paying, releasing, or tampering with funds belonging to the 30 local government areas of Osun State.
The order will remain in force until today (Friday), October 10, when the matter is scheduled for further hearing.
Justice Akintola said the extension became necessary to ensure that all parties in the case were granted the right to fair hearing in line with Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
“The case is adjourned till Friday, October 10, 2025, for further hearing, while the interim injunction shall continue to subsist,” he ruled.
The counsel to the plaintiff, Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), in his presentation, informed the court that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had filed an application seeking to be joined in the suit, stating that his would oppose the application.
“Even though the PDP has a constitutional right to fair hearing under Section 36, we shall oppose their application for joinder. The case is narrow and straightforward; there is no need for multiple parties,” he said.
The Senior Advocate also noted that Mr. Kasim Gbadamosi (SAN), who holds the brief of Kunle Adegoke, SAN, for the APC ex-Council Chairmen, had filed a fresh affidavits in addition to an earlier one on the same matter of joinder.
Responding, Gbadamosi stated that he intended to withdraw the new application, arguing that the issue of jurisdiction did not require a formal application.
“I will withdraw the application. The issue before the court is jurisdictional, and as such, it doesn’t require a formal application,” he said.
He further argued that the case before the High Court amounted to an abuse of judicial process since a similar matter was already pending before the Supreme Court.
“The matter is premised on a case already before the Supreme Court and should therefore be struck out,” he added.
Also addressing the court, counsel to UBA Plc, Mutalib Adebayo Ojo (SAN), urged the court to adjourn the case sine die (indefinitely) pending the determination of the matter at the apex court.
“We observe that this suit is predicated upon a case already before the Supreme Court. Consequently, it should be adjourned sine die until the determination of that matter. UBA is not a party to the Supreme Court case; we are merely a neutral party in this process,” Ojo submitted.
After hearing all the arguments, Justice Akintola then adjourned the case till today (Friday) for ruling.

Kenny Okolugbo, media aide to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its approach to tackling corruption, saying the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, under Ola Olukoyede has demonstrated an unprecedented level of focus and effectiveness.
Okolugbo spoke during an interview on TVC News, praising Olukoyede’s efforts in combating financial crimes, particularly round-tripping and cryptocurrency-related manipulation of the naira.
“Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the EFCC, has done a lot in fighting those involved in round-tripping and the artificial devaluation of the naira, especially those using cryptocurrency to distort the real value of the currency,” he said.
He noted that the Commission’s actions have contributed to the relative stability of the naira and the improvement of the economy.
Okolugbo argued that contrary to claims by the opposition, the current administration has made notable progress in anti-corruption efforts.
“We have never had an EFCC that has been so focused like under President Tinubu. And President Tinubu was supposed to be the one allegedly corrupt,” he said.
““I’m not trying to denigrate President Buhari, but under him, who was supposed to be anti-corruption, we didn’t even fight corruption the way it is being fought now,” he added.
He cited the recovery of 753 houses by the EFCC and its role in generating internally generated revenue (IGR) for initiatives such as the students’ loan fund and the cash-back scheme as evidence of progress.
According to him, the EFCC’s actions, including deporting foreigners involved in cybercrime and tracking funds across ministries and agencies, have sent a strong message that Nigeria is no longer a haven for corruption.
Okolugbo further stressed that plugging financial leakages is essential for economic growth and that the Tinubu administration deserves credit for taking bold steps in that direction.
He also lauded the government’s ongoing tax reforms, describing them as a sustainable path to national development.
“In these two areas — corruption and the economy — I think Tinubu has performed quite well.
“When you look at the tax reforms, by the time they come into full effect and people embrace them, they will become a major source of IGR,” he stated.

While Governor Agbu Kefas’s office has been fully staffed with advisers and support personnel, Alhaji Alkali continues to operate without key aides, including a Chief Press Secretary, a position widely seen as essential for managing communications with the media and the public.
Several government sources who spoke to DAILY POST under the condition of anonymity, expressed concern that the prolonged lack of aides had affected the deputy governor’s ability to effectively carry out his duties and may be contributing to his reported health challenges.
“I believe the deputy governor’s current health condition could have been better managed if he had the necessary aides.
“It’s shocking that more than two years into his tenure, he doesn’t even have a press secretary to handle media matters,” a source said.
According to insiders, Alhaji Alkali had previously submitted a list of proposed aides and approved their appointments, but the process has allegedly been blocked by influential political figures within the administration.
These individuals are reportedly refusing to issue appointment letters, thereby stalling the staffing of the deputy governor’s office.
“This is no longer just a bureaucratic delay. it’s becoming a matter of human dignity and administrative efficiency.
“Governor Kefas needs to urgently step in and allow the deputy governor to officially name and work with his team. It will help reduce the pressure on him and restore functionality to his office,” another source said.
The situation is being interpreted by some as a sign of internal power struggles within the state government.
Critics are urging governor Kefas to take swift action to end the impasse and ensure the deputy governor is given the support necessary to perform his constitutional duties.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the governor’s office regarding the issue.

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman has called on the Federal Government to include the repair of the Bauchi–Kano Federal Highway in the 2026 national budget.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker said the appeal became necessary due to the unbearable hardship faced by commuters using the Bauchi–Kano Federal Highway.
According to the statement, the Speaker made the appeal through a letter to both the Senate and the House of Representatives, saying the 138-kilometre Bauchi–Ningi–Jigawa–Kano road is one of the major routes linking several states in the Northeast and North-Central to Kano, the region’s commercial hub.
“The highway carries huge volumes of traffic daily but has deteriorated to an unimaginable level, causing frequent accidents and loss of lives and property.
“The condition of this road is tragic. People now spend several hours on a journey that should take less than one hour, especially between Bauchi and Babaldu. It is affecting trade, movement, and even emergency services,” he said.
The Speaker explained that a section of the road – about 10 kilometres from Bauchi Airport Junction to Futuru village was repaired in 2023, but work was suspended in early 2024 due to lack of funds.
Since then, he said, the project has been abandoned because it was not captured in the 2024 and 2025 budgets.
He revealed that he also wrote to the Federal Emergency Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to remind them of their earlier discussions about the road’s condition, urging the agency to act swiftly.
“I am appealing to the National Assembly and the House Committee on Appropriation to allocate enough funds to FERMA to ensure that this vital road is repaired in 2026,” he added.
Dr. Suleiman said the move was part of his commitment to ease the suffering of his constituents in Ningi Central and neighbouring communities who rely heavily on the road for trade and daily movement.

A pastor serving in the Faan District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State has narrated how armed Fulani militants intercepted passenger vehicles along the Barkin Ladi-Dorowa road, isolated Christians, and slaughtered them in cold blood.
The pastor, who spoke in a video recording shared on social media platforms, lamented the series of attacks in Faan communities in the past week perpetrated by suspected Fulani militants, where over 10 people have been killed, while farmlands have been destroyed.
White narrating the dastardly acts of the militants, the pastor also insinuated that the Fulanis are on a renewed jihad war aimed at exterminating Christians in Plateau State and taking over their fertile lands.
Speaking in the video clip, the pastor said:
‘I am a witness to what happened here. I came here early this year, the 1st of January to be precise, from LCC Farin Kasa in Mangu Local Government Area to LCC Faan in Barkin Ladi.
“I came on transfer to continue my pastoral work. What I met here was that the Fulanis have been killing Christians in the local communities and we have been praying to God for a peaceful coexistence.
“God indeed answered our prayers and we have been living in peace for some months. But after a few months, the Fulani people started killing again.
“They first entered some neighbouring communities and started killing the people and destroying their farmlands completely. This act was shocking as the attacks were unprovoked.
“No one looked for their trouble before they carried out the act. While we were still praying for peace, on Sunday, October 5th, we were holding a church executive meeting with my elders, and about 6pm, we decided to end the meeting so that we all could go home, as there was still tension in the community.
“Before that time, we were hearing rumours that Fulani people were saying that some people had killed their cattle.
“Some Fulani people and soldiers were also coming into the community to see what was happening. So we decided to close early so that everyone can go home because you see, the Fulanis do not spare anyone when they attack and they do not forget anything done to them.
“So we told everyone to go home, not knowing that the Fulani militias had set up an ambush in a maize farm. One of our officials by the name Godfrey David, was on his way home when the Fulanis attacked and opened fire on him. He was riddled with bullets and left his body by the roadside.
“While we were still coming to terms with the killing of David, the following day, the Fulani people attacked some people at the same spot and killed another promising young man in Lawur. He was ambushed at about 6:30pm.
“He was about to enter his compound when they attacked and opened fire on him. Between that first attack on Sunday and today, they have killed over eight people.
“If we add the people they killed along the Dorowa Babuje road, I will say they are more than 10. We don’t know what their aim was.
“While we were preparing to bury David, the same militias blocked a road on Thursday between Barkin Ladi and Dorowa Babuje.
“They stopped vehicles, isolated Christians, and slaughtered them in cold blood. People have not been sleeping because Fulanis believe they are now above the law, so they do whatever they want to people because they believe there is nothing that can be done to them.
“And we have no one to run to, no one to help us except God. We want the government to wade into this matter because we, the ordinary people, have no one to help us. Right now, the Fulanis do not regard others as humans but we believe in God to help us.
“But now, we have resolved to take this matter into our hands because when push comes to the wall, we have to take our destinies into our hands because right now, we have lost too many of our people.
“We are sick and tired of all these killings of our people. We are not cowards but people who obey the government and God, but we are not afraid of them in any way.
“Now we are telling the government that if they do not take immediate action against these killers, very soon, they will not know the direction this will take because it could turn into war.
“What I can say is that they are fighting the jihad war as they do not want to see Christians and they want to take over all the lands in the communities. They want to take the fertile lands that God gave us instead of allowing us to enjoy God’s blessings upon us,” he lamented.
