The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, says he has no regret supporting President Bola Tinubu against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 elections.

Wike said some of his opponents collected money from Atiku to fight but they all failed.

He spoke at the New Year luncheon he organized at his country home in Obio-Akpor on Friday.

According to Wike: “I have no regret supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win election.

“All these ones making noise, they told Atiku, we will fight him. How can people who came out and said Fubara cannot be governor, he cannot talk before the public, today are now the ones saying we are with you in 2027?”

During the build-up to the 2023 presidential election, Wike, then the governor of Rivers State, supported Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Wike refused to support Atiku due to the leadership crisis within the PDP.

The former governor of Rivers State had faulted the decision of the party to allow its presidential candidate and national chairman to emerge from the North.

Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya, the Ajeniju of Halleluyah community, Egbedore local government council area of Osun State, was reportedly beaten to a stupor over a Jummat service dispute on Friday.

DAILY POST gathered that some youths from Ido-Osun community allegedly attacked the Ajeniju of Halleluyah for installing Hammed Tijani as the Chief Imam of Halleluyah community on their land.

The attack occurred when the newly appointed Chief Imam attempted to conduct a Jummat service.

The monarch sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a government owned hospital in Osogbo for medical treatment.

According to a security source, the situation escalated, resulting in the vandalisation of the palace and physical attack on the Ajeniju of Hallelujah, who sustained serious injuries.

The source added that the monarch has been taken to the State CID for further investigation.

The installation of Ajeniju of Halleluyah by the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal had sparked controversy between the people of Ido-Osun and Ede communities in 2024.

Reacting to the incident, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has issued a stern warning to youth groups behind recent attacks on Oba Olaiya and razing of his palace.

Governor Adeleke also issued a directive to security agencies to fish out those behind the dastardly acts.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed in a statement on Saturday, Governor Adeleke who frowned at resorting to self help by some elements within the Ido Osun community said he has directed the Commissioner of Police to secure the troubled areas and arrest the ringleaders of the violent actions.

He disclosed that he has spoken with the Ajeniju of Hallelujah who is presently recuperating from the attacks.

He also stated that he directed the Olojudo of Ido Osun, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola to call the rampaging youth in his domain to order amidst ongoing law enforcement.

According to the Governor, “resorting to violence to resolve communal disputes is unacceptable and those found wanting will face the full wrath of the law.

“Aside from law enforcement, I have further directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dosu Babatunde to commence immediate peace-building and conflict de-escalation in collaboration with the security agencies.

“Any community with grievances is free to approach relevant government agencies to table such for conflict resolution. We will not tolerate violence under whatever guise.”
