Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has revealed why her senator colleagues did not show her support during her six months suspension from the National Assembly.

Natasha, who made the revelation during the commissioning of a new market in Okene, Kogi State, stated that fear of political persecution prevented many of her colleagues from showing her support during the period.

She confirmed that some senators reached out to her privately to express solidarity, stressing that they avoided public association with her for fear of political consequences.

According to the female lawmaker, her suspension as illegal, noting that it exposed how fear and political intimidation shape behaviour within government institutions.

She said, “When a government official faces challenges, isolation comes naturally.

“Even when people are sympathetic, they are afraid to associate with you openly for fear of being castigated or persecuted.

“Many senators stood by me quietly — they called, they visited — but in public, they couldn’t show it. I’m not offended by that.”

Recall that the Kogi Central Senator was suspended for six months in March over sex allegation involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

However, after six months in political exile, Senator Natasha returned to the Red Chamber in September.

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Sam Amadi, has said he will support President Bola Tinubu if he takes decisive steps to eliminate religious and ethnic prerogatives in the country.

Amadi stated this in a post on X on Monday, describing such tendencies as major obstacles to the country’s progress and stability.

“Anyone who successfully removes the hold of religious and ethnic prerogatives on Nigeria, I will support that person, even if it is @officialABAT,” he wrote.

He added that Nigeria cannot achieve prosperity or stability while being held back by “neo-feudal and theocratic prerogatives.”

DAILY POST reported that US President Donald Trump recently designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern, with threat to unleash military action on Nigeria if nothing is done quickly about the matter.

Trump cited what he described as ongoing violence against Christians and failure of the government to protect religious minorities.

However, the Nigerian government strongly denied persecution of any religious group in Nigeria.
