The State Police Commissioner, Ikioye Orutugu, made this disclosure while speaking to newsmen in Awka, on Sunday.

Orutugu said the deployment, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, is in line with the Force’s strategic operational plan to reinforce local formations with additional manpower and advanced technical support, including helicopters and drones for aerial surveillance.

He thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering support and commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Anambra State.

“The aerial surveillance will complement ongoing land patrols by tactical units, intelligence operatives, and police special squads strategically deployed across all 21 local government areas of the State.

“The combined efforts of the Command and the newly arrived tactical operatives will further enhance visibility policing, intelligence-driven operations, and rapid response to emerging threats.

“The deployment of helicopters and surveillance drones will enable real-time monitoring of key locations, border communities, and flash points, while ground teams will maintain robust patrols and checkpoint operations across all 21 local government areas of the State,” he said.

The President of Nigeria’s Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has denied ever making a reckless statement in reaction to the threats by the American President, Donald Trump, to carry out military action against Nigeria over perceived killing of Christians in the country.

The offending statement was said to have been attributed to Akpabio by a media platform in which the Senate President was quoted insulting President Trump and asking him to face American challenges.

Hon Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Office of the President of the Senate, said that his principal never made the statement either publicly or privately.

He challenged the media platform to make public the source of its information on where the Senate President made the offending statement.

Eyiboh’s statement read in part: “Our attention has been drawn to a malicious and completely fabricated post published by a platform, falsely attributing a reckless and imaginary statement to the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.

“The post — which reads, ‘The killing is taking place in Nigeria not in USA, Trump should focus on US. Nigerians are not complaining about the killings, we are fully satisfied with the condition of Nigeria’ — is a total falsehood, a product of mischief, and a desperate attempt to incite misunderstanding between Senator Godswill Akpabio and U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as between Nigeria and its international partners.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Senate President never made such a statement — not publicly, privately, in writing, or in conversation. We challenge the publishers of this falsehood to produce a single shred of evidence to the contrary.

“The accompanying photograph, which shows the Senate President at an official event alongside other Senators, has been deceptively used to lend false credibility to a fabricated quote that was never uttered by him.

“Senator Akpabio is a statesman of global repute and a respected advocate of international friendship, diplomacy, and mutual respect among nations.

“He holds President Donald Trump in high regard as a historic figure and a leader of a great nation. He would never comment on internal matters of the United States, nor issue any statement that falls within the exclusive domain of Nigeria’s Executive arm of government or the nation’s foreign policy establishment.

“This malicious post is, therefore, a clear act of digital recklessness and a deliberate attempt to sow confusion, tarnish reputations, and inflame unnecessary diplomatic sentiments.

“We urge the public to ignore this falsehood in its entirety.

“The Office of the President of the Senate remains committed to transparency, truth, and responsible communication — both in Nigeria and on the international stage”, it said.

Adamu made this statement on Sunday while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

He was reacting to the threat issued by President Trump, who said he had asked the Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians”.

“The escalation to attack a sovereign state is completely against the rules-based international system, which maintains that no country should threaten the sovereignty of another.

“Trump is attempting to consolidate his grassroots support. Nigeria needs to begin de-risking and de-escalating.

“During his first tenure, the same thing happened. He categorised Nigeria under the ‘Country of Particular Concern’. He lost re-election to the Democrat, and now he’s back, we are seeing the repetition of that cycle.

“Frankly, I’m not surprised because all the indicators that would have told us what’s going to happen were there. As early as March this year, the US Congress passed a resolution to that effect.

“Then in July, the United States Commission for Religious International Freedom also released a report on Nigeria and it was very clear in that report when it recommended the categorization of Nigeria under the ‘Country of Particular Concern’,” he said.

The statement said the decision to embark on the protest followed reports that a high-level Nigerian government delegation is going to the US to meet President Donald Trump and other American officials over the alleged Christian genocide.

The statement titled ‘All Judeo-Christians and Biafrans in the US, report to Washington DC’, said, “A high-level Nigerian delegation is reportedly heading to the United States to polish Nigeria’s battered international image and deceive world leaders into believing that peace, justice, and religious freedom exist in that country. They want to cover the blood.

“We say no! We will not allow the same government presiding over ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, church burnings, abductions, and mass burials of Indigenous Peoples to rewrite the narrative while the victims are still bleeding.

“This is the hour to raise our voices with thunder, in the capital of the free world. We must support President Trump to end ethno-relgious genocide in Nigeria!

“For over a decade, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu sounded the alarm about the jihadist expansion, land-grabbing agenda, and systematic extermination targeting Judeo-Christian populations.

“They abducted him, tortured him, and locked him away because he refused to be silent while his people were marked for extinction. We will honor his sacrifice by taking the truth to Washington, D.C. — loudly.”

The statement stressed that the protest must be held immediately because indigenous nations across Nigeria are being overrun one after another.

“Hausa ancestral identity erased. Nupe communities swallowed. Middle Belt villages wiped out. Christian lands in Southern Kaduna soaked in blood. Yoruba communities in Kwara under siege. Biafraland under constant military occupation.

“If we don’t rise, we will be the next headline, the next mass grave, the next ‘never again’ story. There is no neutral ground in the face of genocide.

“Silence is surrender. Inaction is consent,” the statement added.

Stressing that the protest must be peaceful, IPOB noted that the mobilization for protest is not a violent call, nor a call for confrontation.

It described the protest as a call for a mass, peaceful and unstoppable display of conscience.

The statement explained that the call for protest is for every Biafran in the US, Judeo-Christians, Yoruba Nation, Middle Belt, Idoma, Tiv, Ijaw, Ibibio, and all Indigenous Peoples, human rights defenders, civil liberty groups, and all people with a conscience.

“No tribe stands alone anymore — unity is our shield. Our message to America and the world: No diplomatic lies can cover mass graves. No lobbying can erase the tears of widows and orphans.

“No propaganda can bury the truth forever. The world must hear the cry of the persecuted. America must stand with the oppressed — not the oppressor, the streets of Washington must feel our footsteps,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the date, time and venue of the protest will be announced.

Speaking at his Iga-Iduganran Palace on Sunday during a ceremony marking his 82nd birthday and 22nd anniversary on the throne, the revered monarch called on Nigerians to return to God, embrace discipline, and reject greed and sycophancy, which he described as the root causes of the country’s challenges.

Oba Akiolu expressed profound gratitude to God for granting him the privilege of leadership, noting that true leadership demands wisdom, discipline, and a deep sense of spirituality.

“In Lagos and across Nigeria, our major problem is that we have drifted too far from God. Sycophancy, indiscipline, and greed remain our greatest enemies. Greed, in particular, is the root of all evil.

“Everything in Lagos, especially within Iga Iduganran, has always been under the guidance of Almighty Allah and the authority of the Oba of Lagos,” he said.

The monarch lamented the decline of communal values among Lagos residents, noting that mutual care and family bonds that once defined the city’s social fabric were fast disappearing.

“We have lost our sense of communal living where relatives genuinely cared for one another. That should not be the case.

“If people are relocated for developmental purposes, they should be allowed to return to their communities once renewal projects are completed,” he stated.

Oba Akiolu also called on local government authorities to invest prudently, particularly in security logistics, emphasizing that improved patrol systems, transparency, and accountability would help reduce criminal activities.

He cautioned the political class to desist from acts that erode public trust and to always place the people’s welfare above personal interest.

“From today, let us all embrace honesty, sincerity of purpose, and a clear sense of direction. Think positively about others and never look down on anyone,” he advised, adding that: “Nigeria is a great country and, by the grace of Almighty Allah, it will be greater.”

Reflecting on his years in public service, the former Assistant Inspector-General of Police recalled an encounter with the late Chief Ernest Shonekan, during the short-lived Interim National Government that followed the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

“I told him plainly that the election which produced Chief MKO Abiola was a protest against military rule. I warned that the interim government would not last, and shortly after, General Sani Abacha took over,” he recounted.

Reaffirming his lifelong commitment to integrity, Oba Akiolu said he served for 32 years in the Nigeria Police Force without ever taking a bribe.

“I will always stand by the truth, no matter who is involved,” he declared.

Ameh emphasised that the coalition condemns all forms of violence irrespective of the victims’ religious, ethnic, or political identity, saying what Nigerians desire is the protection of lives and property.

According to him, the continued attacks on rural communities and the displacement of residents require an urgent and coordinated response from the government.

“Of course we welcome foreign intervention if the Federal Government fails to end these killings. The violence must cease without delay.

“Displaced persons should be able to return to their homes, those responsible for attacks must be held accountable, and communities must be secured,” he said.

The CUPP National Secretary urged President Tinubu to direct the military and security agencies to intensify operations against armed groups nationwide, adding that the government should deploy all necessary resources and intelligence capabilities to dismantle the networks responsible for the attacks.

He further proposed a 90-day target for measurable progress, accompanied by bi-weekly reports to the Presidency detailing operational achievements and constraints, reiterating CUPP’s position against negotiating with criminal groups, insisting that security agencies must prioritise firm enforcement measures.

He added that if the government fails to act decisively, the coalition would be open to any legitimate international assistance aimed at restoring peace and security.

“Our appeal is for decisive action. If the government does not take the necessary steps, we would welcome any lawful support that helps to end the activities of these armed groups,” he added.

The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the party, Toni Akeni, said this on Sunday in Abuja in reaction to the recent declaration of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” by the US President Donald Trump.

DAILY POST reports that President Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, CPC, in response to allegations of widespread persecution and genocide against Christians.

Akeni referenced a 2014 social media post by then–Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who criticised the previous administration over security lapses, arguing that current circumstances require similar introspection.

He said available reports from local and international organisations indicate that insecurity has continued to affect citizens of various religious backgrounds, including Christians, across several states.

According to him, the party’s concern stems from the recurring attacks in rural communities, particularly in parts of the North and Middle Belt, noting that affected residents continue to suffer loss of lives and displacement.

The Labour Party mouthpiece urged the Federal Government to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve collaboration with security agencies, and ensure the protection of vulnerable populations.

The LP also called for enhanced international cooperation to support Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts, saying constructive engagement would be more beneficial than global rhetoric.

“Christian communities suffer disproportionate impact. We welcome renewed international attention on Nigeria’s security situation. We urge the United States and other partners to provide technical support, intelligence sharing, and equipment that would boost Nigeria’s response capacity.

“We equally appeal to the international community to also consider the plight of moderate Muslim communities who have equally suffered from terrorist attacks.

“We commend local religious and community leaders— both Christian and Muslim— who have continued to advocate peaceful coexistence. Their interventions are essential for national stability,” he said.
