Craneburg Construction Limited, the contractor handling the reconstruction of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway, has assured that the ongoing project will be completed within record time.
This is even as the Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to delivering durable road infrastructure across the state.
Project Manager, Craneburg, Mr. Pierre Andary, disclosed during an inspection tour of ongoing road reconstruction projects in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, led by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, that asphalt laying had already commenced on several sections, with overall completion now exceeding 50 percent.
He noted that despite weather-related challenges, work has continued apace to ensure timely delivery.
Also speaking, Engr. Akinsanya emphasized that the Abiodun-led administration has transformed previously impassable roads since assuming office in 2019.
He urged residents and motorists to remain patient, explaining that quality and durability require meticulous engineering and time.
“Before this administration came on board, the road was totally impassable. The Sango-Ota area was like a swimming pool. We made tremendous efforts to fix that, but road reconstruction is not a one-day operation — it takes time,” Akinsanya stated.
He further revealed that the concrete pavement method adopted along the Ewekoro axis was designed to strengthen the road and reduce long-term maintenance costs, especially given the area’s high water table.
The Commissioner also clarified that a viral video depicting poor road conditions did not reflect the current state of work, adding that the government had already addressed traffic congestion along the corridor.
“Work is ongoing and will continue until completion,” he assured, appealing to motorists to drive cautiously, particularly during the rainy season.
Other roads inspected during the tour include the 8.17km Magboro–Makogi Road, Akute–Alagbole Road, 9.2km Oke-Aro–Agbado Road, and Papalanto Road, spanning Abeokuta North, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ifo, and Ewekoro Local Government Areas
Mr. Jason Zhang, Project Manager of CCECC Nigeria Limited, the firm handling the Magboro–Makogi Road, confirmed steady progress and lauded both motorists and the state government for their cooperation, which he said has been instrumental in maintaining project timelines.
Residents, including Mr. Uche Okoro and Alhaji Wasiu Sanusi, commended the state government’s efforts, noting that the road projects would greatly ease transportation difficulties and stimulate economic activities in the region.

The acclaimed film, long used as an advocacy and educational tool, has found new relevance as conversations around the protection of young girls gain fresh momentum. Responding to growing calls from concerned Nigerians for wider access and awareness, Linus has now made Dry available on YouTube to reach an even broader audience.
Released in 2014, Dry stars Stephanie Linus (Okereke), Liz Benson, William McNamara, Darwin Shaw, and Paul Sambo. The movie first drew attention in 2013 when its teaser trailer coincided with the national debate over child marriage in Nigeria.
The film’s storyline centres on the plight of 13-year-old Halima (Zubaida Ibrahim Fagge), who is married off to Sani (Tijjani Faraga), a 60-year-old man. Following repeated sexual abuse, Halima becomes pregnant and develops Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) after childbirth — a devastating condition that leaves her ostracised and abandoned. Her fate changes when she meets Zara (played by Linus), a doctor who also endured a traumatic childhood and is determined to help young girls like Halima reclaim their dignity and future.
Speaking about the renewed relevance of Dry, Linus emphasised that VVF remains “a major gynaecological problem in many parts of the developing world.” She explained that the film was conceived as “an educational tool to create awareness and bring to consciousness the degrading experiences of young, underprivileged women in Africa.”
“Dry does not hold back,” she added. “It confronts us with the harsh realities of rape, child marriage, obstetric fistula, and the stigma that continues to haunt survivors.”
As the nation mourns Ochanya and other young victims of abuse, Dry serves as both a cinematic masterpiece and a sobering call to action — reminding society that the fight for justice and dignity for every girl child is far from over.

According to her brother-in-law, Shehu Muhammed Danladi, Aisha last seen on October 30, 2025, at Glorious Amazing Grace and Maternity, Ikot Ekpo, 8 Miles Junction, Calabar where she was posted for her clinical practice.
Danladi said that the young lady lived in the Nasarawa area, which is a Hausa settlement in Calabar. “We have not seen her since then and we have not received any word from her. We are very worried for her safety and wellbeing,” he said, while asking the public to assist in searching for her.
Danladi further claimed that they have reported Aisha missing to the police, but they have not been able to make any headway.
The family is appealing to anyone who has got information on Aisha to either reach out to the hospital she worked or the nearest police station.

The Senior Pastor of Guiding Light Assembly, Wale Adefarasin has reacted to United States’ claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, describing them as exaggerated and questioning America’s sudden concern for Nigerian Christians.
In a video that went viral on Monday, Pastor Adefarasin criticised what he described as an exaggerated Western narrative portraying Nigerian Christians as victims of genocide.
“For 40 years that I’ve been a Christian, there have been killings in southern Kaduna, killings on the Plateau, and riots,” he said. “This isn’t new. It’s wrong, yes—but it’s not genocide. The way the West talks about it, you’d think a Christian can’t step outside without being killed.”
The cleric acknowledged that attacks on Christians in parts of the country were real and condemnable but insisted they were not part of a new or coordinated extermination campaign.
Adefarasin went further to suggest that the West’s renewed concern might be less about religion and more about Nigeria’s growing economic and strategic significance.
“I’m trying to understand this sudden affection for Christians. Is it because Nigeria now has one of the largest refineries in the world and no longer needs to export crude? Or is it about the new minerals in our soil that are vital for nuclear energy and electric vehicles?”
His comments come amid rising diplomatic tension following Donald Trump’s threat of possible U.S. military intervention in Nigeria over what he described as the mass killing of Christians.

The Lagos State Government has unveiled plans to digitise and automate the approval process for telecommunication infrastructure projects through the introduction of the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System, TIRS, set to launch in February 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Prince Oyekanmi Elegushi, General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance Regulatory Agency, LASIMRA.
According to Elegushi, the new system will ensure that all telecommunication infrastructure projects across the state strictly adhere to regulatory standards while improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
He explained that the TIRS platform will streamline the process of obtaining permits for the installation of masts, towers, and right-of-way for fiber optic cables, thereby eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks and unnecessary physical interactions.
“The implementation of the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System, TIRS, is expected to significantly enhance transparency and accountability, minimizing human interaction by as much as 99 per cent.
Companies will now be able to apply for infrastructure permits such as masts, towers, and fiber optic right-of-way online, reducing the need for physical visits,” Elegushi said.
The LASIMRA boss revealed that a comprehensive training programme had been completed for all departments and units within the agency to ensure a seamless transition to the new digital platform once it becomes operational.
He stated that the training covered both theoretical and practical aspects of the TIRS, equipping LASIMRA personnel with the necessary skills to effectively manage and oversee telecom infrastructure approvals through the system.
Elegushi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating a sustainable, transparent, and investor-friendly regulatory environment for telecom operators and infrastructure providers.
He added that the introduction of the TIRS platform aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of advancing digital governance and improving service delivery through technology-driven solutions.
