Residents of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have commended the minister, Nyesom Wike, for infrastructure projects executed by his administration.

The residents, under the aegis of Cabul Network, expressed appreciation for the ongoing developmental projects in the capital city in a statement signed by Chijioke Nwachukwu, Director General, and Matthew Eguche, Secretary.

They noted that it was the first time in the history of the FCT that projects of such magnitude were executed in a short period.

Parts of the statement read, “We, the members of the Cabul Network, comprising citizens residing across the various area councils and districts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), write to express our profound appreciation and heartfelt support for your remarkable leadership and the significant strides you have made in the development of the FCT.

“It is with great joy that we, the residents of FCT, state that never before have we experienced such a marked improvement in the quality of infrastructure and developmental initiatives in the Territory. Under your stewardship, we have witnessed remarkable growth and progress across numerous sectors.

“Where do we even begin to acknowledge the transformation? Is it in the expansion of road infrastructure, the construction of area council roads to ease housing challenges in the FCT, or the development of railway stations? All these and more continue to empower and uplift the residents.

“We unequivocally affirm that every area of infrastructure is receiving due attention simultaneously, and this holistic approach is a clear testimony of your dedication and effective leadership.”

The residents urged the minister to sustain the tempo, while urging him to ignore distractions as he goes about his assignment.

“We also take this opportunity to convey our sincere support and appeal that the incredible work you have started continues to be sustained and built upon. We strongly condemn the voices of dissent and naysayers, and urge you not to be distracted by them.

“We are confident that with the unwavering support of Mr. President, the Federal Capital Territory, under your leadership, will continue to reach new heights of development.

“As we pledge our full support and loyalty to your administration, we would like to emphasize that our network is primarily composed of individuals who served as youth corps members in the FCT between 1998 and 2000, and we are proud to stand with you in this journey of progress.

“Once again, we commend your efforts, and we remain hopeful for the continued advancement of the Federal Capital Territory,” they added.

A former All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has faulted the handling of Nigeria’s foreign policy under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Garba said managers of Tinubu’s foreign policy have exposed Nigeria to even more problems.

He made the remark in reaction to China warning the United States against interfering in Nigeria’s affairs.

China had issued the warning following threats by US President, Donald Trump to order military action over reported Christian genocide in Nigeria.

Garba in a post on X wrote: “China backed Nigeria and warned U.S against internal interference. Some are celebrating this based on myopic mindset.

“So did China backed Afghanistan, China Backed Iraq, China backed Gaddafi, China backed Assad. does that stop U.S from projecting its national interest in those countries?

“Most recently, China backed Gaza, does that stop anything? In fact, the most important Chinese BRI ally in the World is Islamic Republic of Iran, China vehemently backed Iran, but that doesn’t stop the U.S from bombing the Iranian Nuclear facility, right within Iran.

“The truth it, when it comes to international issues, no country can back you against any other superpower beyond strongly worded press conferences, except of course when there are strategic interests threatening the national security of the supporting power.

“In fact, in Nigeria, most Chinese companies have been packed up due to lack of payment from the jobs they have executed for the government. The chinese government is fully aware of the situation.

“Therefore, believe such press statements as anything beyond paper rhetoric at your own peril.

“Nigeria’s foreign policy management of the Tinubu administration is the most laziest it has ever been in the country, exposing us to even more problems.

“Nigeria needs to work its way to clean its name. This is very important.

“As it stands, there is no country, not even our neigbors like Niger, Cameroun, Benin that can come for us in the event of any situation. In fact, Chad even closed their borders against us.

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has accused the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, of allegedly deceiving Nigerians under the guise of divine revelation.

In a statement issued by its National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, the group said Primate Ayodele’s alleged “anti-Igbo and tribalized posture” has been exposed.

MASSOB claimed the cleric’s criticisms of Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party and his support for President Bola Tinubu were part of a sponsored campaign to discredit the former Anambra governor.

The statement accused Ayodele of ignoring the “hardship and insecurity” in the country while defending the Tinubu administration. It said:

“In your support bid for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, you have turned blind eyes to the huge evils his administration has caused Nigerians, including your kinsmen. You have also ignored the ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria.”

MASSOB expressed support for former US President Donald Trump’s recent stance against the Nigerian government, saying his intervention aims to expose “foreign and local-backed Fulani jihadists” responsible for attacks on Christians.

The group rejected Ayodele’s claim that Trump’s position was part of a plot to destabilize the Tinubu administration, insisting that the president was responsible for his government’s instability.

“Tinubu is the one destabilizing his administration by appointing his kinsmen to occupy almost all strategic positions and running the government like a family business,” MASSOB stated.

The pro-Biafra group further alleged that Tinubu’s presidency lacks legitimacy, claiming he “connived with INEC and the judiciary to steal the presidential mandate.”

MASSOB also dismissed Ayodele’s call for Tinubu to seek God’s face, saying such advice was “deceitful,” as, according to the group, “God did not install him as Nigeria’s president.”

It said Tinubu should instead seek forgiveness from former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

The Unified Nigeria Youth Forum, UNYF, has identified high cost of nomination and expression-of-interest forms imposed by political parties as a major obstacle to youth participation in governance.

It accused political parties of creating structural and financial barriers that discourage youth involvement, calling for urgent reforms to institutionalize inclusiveness, promote internal democracy, and create space for emerging leaders across all levels of governance.

The Forum, in a communiqué issued at the end of its Patriotic Awakening Event and National Youth Convention held in Kaduna, with the theme ‘Nigeria the Way Forward: UNYF Setting the Pace in Nigerian Politics – The Emergence of a New Nigeria’, said political participation should be driven by competence and ideas, not by the depth of one’s pocket.

The communique, signed by the UNYF National President, Comrade Olajide Toriah Filani, lamented that the exorbitant cost of nomination forms had turned politics into a business venture reserved for the wealthy elite rather than a platform for service.

“Our democracy cannot grow when capable young Nigerians are financially excluded from contesting elective positions. Political participation should be driven by competence and ideas, not by the depth of one’s pocket,” the Forum stated.

It further noted that despite constituting over 60 percent of Nigeria’s population, youths remain underrepresented in decision-making processes due to economic hardship, political marginalization, and lack of mentorship.

The communique also identified poor leadership, corruption, and absence of national vision as the root causes of the country’s underdevelopment. It urged political actors to prioritize merit, competence, and character in leadership recruitment rather than relying on patronage or personal ambition.

While expressing concern over the incessant strikes in tertiary institutions, the Forum called on the Federal Government and academic unions to embrace genuine dialogue and invest more in research, innovation, and digital education to equip young Nigerians with relevant skills for the modern economy.

It equally decried Nigeria’s growing debt profile and over-reliance on borrowing, urging government at all levels to embrace fiscal discipline and promote productivity in agriculture, manufacturing, and technology-driven sectors.

The UNYF further resolved that protests in the Nigerian system have become counterproductive as they are often hijacked by miscreants, adding that the most effective protest in a democracy is expressed through active political participation and the ballot box.

“The New Nigeria we desire will not emerge by chance but through visionary leadership, unity, and responsible youth engagement. Our duty as young Nigerians is to rebuild the nation with integrity, discipline, and patriotism,” the communiqué added.

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to national unity, peace, and progress, pledging continued collaboration with government institutions, civil society, and development partners to promote youth empowerment, accountability, and innovation-driven governance.

President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, SAN, from Enugu State, as a minister in his cabinet.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letter on the floor of the Senate during plenary on Tuesday.

After the announcement, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further consideration and subsequent screening.

The development follows the resignation of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, from Tinubu’s government.

Nnaji, who was the only minister from Enugu State in the Tinubu administration, resigned last month over controversy trailing his certificate said to be obtained from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State as well as the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, discharge certificate.

His resignation created a vacuum in President Tinubu’s government and left Enugu State without a minister.
