The Kano State Ministry of Health has suspended health officials and partner organizations supporting the ongoing campaign against measles and rubella in Kabo Local Government Area for failing to report for duty. They have consequently been replaced with new personnel.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, Sa’adatu Suleiman.

Those suspended include all officials involved in the vaccination exercise in Kabo Local Government Area; which included Head of the Health Department, the Officer in Charge of Immunization, and representatives of foreign partner organizations — as well as other health workers.

The Commissioner has already appointed new officers to take over the vaccination campaign in Kabo to ensure the successful implementation of the program’s objectives.

Human rights activist, Dele Farotimi has said Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the immediate past Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology is the most honorable among other members of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

Farotimi made the remark in a post on X while reacting to the resignation of the Minister.

DAILY POST had reported that Nnaji tendered his resignation letter on Tuesday following allegation of certificate forgery.

It was alleged that the former minister forged the documents he submitted to the authorities when he was being screened as minister.

Reacting to the resignation, Farotimi urged others in the government, who have been accused of forgery to follow suit.

He wrote, “I don’t know him, and I no send am. BUT this guy is more honorable than every other person in the cabinet from which he has ‘honorably’ resigned.

“When is the aspiring Hitler of Obiakpor resigning, and would the honorable precedent be following suit?”

The Transmission Company of Nigeria announced a four-day blackout in Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and surrounding parts of Lagos State.

TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah disclosed this in a statement on X on Wednesday.

The outage, which is expected to take effect on October 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2025, would last for eight hours daily.

According to TCN, the planned outage is due to preventive maintenance of its Ajah/Lekki 330 kV transmission line on October 11, 2025, and on the Ajah/Alagbon 330 kV line on October 12, 18, and 19, 2025, respectively.

“The maintenance on the Ajah/Lekki 330kV line will enable TCN’s contractor to install a transformer protective system on the 300MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at the Alagbon Transmission Substation.

“Additionally, TCN’s maintenance crew will replace corroded insulators on critical towers of the Ajah/Alagbon and Ajah/Lekki 330 kV transmission lines.

“Consequently, there will be an 8-hour outage from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on the Ajah/Lekki 330 kV line on October 11, 2025, and on the Ajah/Alagbon 330 kV line on October 12, 18, and 19, 2025.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause electricity customers in Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and surrounding areas during this period,” TCN stated.

Abia State Harmonized Task Force, ASHTF, and rights activist, Chinedu Obilor have engaged in a war of words following the man-handling of a truck driver in Umuahia, Abia State capital.

Obilor, who is also a content creator, recently shared a video where the men of the ASHTF were dragging and punching a truck driver, before pushing him into their waiting operational bus, for causing road obstruction.

He said that the struggle for the control of the heavy-duty truck caused it to crash into the fence of a building along Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road.

But in an official reaction, the Abia State Harmonized Task Force said that the long vehicle carrying cement was abandoned on Olokoro road for three consecutive days, causing serious obstruction to road users and posing a potential danger to lives and property.

According to Miracle Chukwunenye, spokesperson of the agency, residents in the area alerted the relevant zonal office of the ASHTF about the obstruction, and it dispatched its operatives to go and remove the obstruction.

“During the towing operation, while along Ikot Ekpene Road by Finbers, the towing chain snapped and the heavy-duty truck rolled back, colliding with a nearby fence.

“This was an accident that occurred in the course of efforts to move the truck off the road,” said Chukwunenye.

He noted that some bags of cement were offloaded into another truck provided by the same company that owned the broken-down vehicle, to make the towing very easy.

Chukwunenye, who described the videos shared by Obilor as falsehood , alleged that the driver of the broken down vehicle mobilized two individuals to harass the personnel of the Task Force and attempted to damage the device used in recording the evacuation exercise.

The spokesperson, however, did not confirm or deny if the truck driver was assaulted and taken away by his men, but said that failures by any driver to evacuate his broken down vehicle from the road after 24 hours attracts sanctions.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has assured commuters that train services on the Lagos–Ibadan Standard Gauge corridor remain fully operational despite a recent act of vandalism discovered between the Agege and Agbado stations in Lagos.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, who confirmed that critical signalling components had been tampered with by unidentified vandals.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Monday, October 6, when routine inspection teams detected the theft of essential signalling equipment, including signal machine cap protectors and connection cables on Switch Point Machine No. 2 along the corridor.

“The Corporation discovered that some unknown persons had vandalised key signalling components along the track.

“The stolen and damaged items were detected during a scheduled inspection of the line,” Unyimadu said.

Unyimadu condemned the act, describing it as a deliberate attempt to sabotage critical national infrastructure.

He stressed that vandalism of signalling systems not only threatens the smooth flow of train operations but also poses serious safety hazards for passengers and railway staff.

He, however, assured the public that the incident did not disrupt train movement, noting that services on the Lagos–Ibadan route have continued without interruption. Security agencies, he said, have been alerted to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The NRC reiterated its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable rail operations nationwide and urged communities along railway corridors to remain watchful and report any suspicious activities around railway infrastructure.

Omeje said terrorism and banditry in the country were driven by criminality, extremism, and the quest for control rather than religion.

“The same insurgents who attack churches have also bombed mosques, ambushed Muslim travellers, and killed thousands of innocent people across all faiths and regions. The pain of terrorism is national, not sectarian,” he said.

He expressed concern that some U.S. lawmakers and media outlets were using claims of Christian persecution to push for Nigeria’s redesignation as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” a move that could affect security cooperation and arms sales to the country.

According to him, such actions would weaken Nigeria’s ability to combat terrorism and embolden criminal groups.

Omeje urged the international community to rely on verified intelligence and credible data rather than politically motivated reports, noting that the U.S. Embassy in Abuja had not described the violence in Nigeria as a religious genocide.

He said Nigeria’s fight against terrorism was for the safety of all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity, and called for constructive international support instead of stigmatization.

The newly reconstituted boards include the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and the Public Procurement Commission.

At the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Malu Orkurga Abraham has been appointed Chairman, while Dr. Stephen Hwande serves as Chief Medical Director.

Other members are Mr. Terhemba Ingyomon, Dr. Emmanuel Orhemba Baki, and Rt. Hon. Frank Adejor Audu, alongside representatives of the medical profession, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Council, and a representative of the Vice Chancellor.
