Former Minister of Sports and member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Solomon Dalung, has dismissed claims that the ADC is an association, insisting it remains a registered political party.

Dalung, who spoke on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, said the party has been in existence for over 19 years and is currently undergoing a transition process that includes the incorporation of coalition elements into its structure.

He explained that the process involves proper documentation and the transfer of signature specimens of new leaders to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. According to him, this would enable INEC to conclude its own procedures.

Dalung stressed that the party was committed to complying with the requirements of the law and that there was no cause for alarm.

“The ADC and the coalition movement are out to rescue the country. They cannot afford not to comply with the requirements of law, because injustice, impunity, and lack of internal democracy were the things that had jeopardized our democracy,” he said.

He maintained that there was “no panic whatsoever” as the transition process was still ongoing.

Troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, have launched an operation to rescue abducted villagers and track down armed bandits who attacked Wake and Gadanaji communities in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a report by security analyst Zagazola via his X handle, the attack occurred at about 5:55 a.m. on Sunday, when a large group of armed bandits invaded Wake village, firing sporadically.

Several residents were killed, including Elisha Pius, Japhet Bitrus, Obadiah Joshua, Luka Augustine, and Paul Augustine of Wake village, as well as Ezekiel Augustine, Ishaya Paul, and Bulus Bawa of Gadanaji village.

Others sustained injuries, among them Sanda Christopher, Issac Elisha, Moses Christian, Godday Clement, Janet Godday of Wake, and Sunday Nuhu, Zakariah Anthony, and Gideon Pius of Gadanaji.

A yet-to-be-determined number of villagers were also abducted and taken to unknown destinations.

Troops were said to have mobilized immediately to the scene, evacuating the injured to hospitals for treatment, with some referred to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna.

Military authorities confirmed that combing operations have been intensified to rescue those abducted and apprehend the attackers.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has dismissed claims by his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, that he is one of his mentees.

Speaking in an interview on TVC on Sunday, Sani stressed that rather than El-Rufai, his mentors are President Bola Tinubu and the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

DAILY POST recalls that El-Rufai had during a recent appearance on Channels Television, described the Kaduna governor as one of the many people he mentored.

“Uba Sani is one of my mentees. I developed many of them. My biggest pride in life is that I’ve elevated many people. I’ve encouraged and mentored many people to greatness. Some even greater than me, and I’m very proud of it,” El-Rufai had said.

Reacting, however, Governor Sani said he would not be drawn into personal exchanges, insisting his focus remains on delivering for the people of Kaduna State.

“I don’t think it is necessary for me to respond to that comment because for me it is something I think I have no time to respond to,” he said.

Instead, Sani named President Tinubu and the late Fawehinmi as the leaders who shaped his political journey.

“I have so many people that I’ve worked with in my life. Even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — I met him in 1994 at the house of Beko Ransom Kuti, and I still regard him as my leader. Chief Gani Fawehinmi is a leader, a father to me because during the era of struggle, I lived in his house,” the governor stated.

Sambo stated this on Monday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme.

He commended former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for drawing attention to governance issues rather than political rhetoric, saying such debates were necessary for national development.

According to him, Buhari’s administration rolled out more poverty reduction programmes between 2015 and 2023 compared to Tinubu’s government.

“Yes, indeed, he may not have personally done so much in terms of uplifting the people of Kaduna state, in terms of poverty figures and all of that.

‘But you will agree with me that having been central to ensuring that Muhammadu Buhari won the election in 2015 and some of the strategies put in place by Buhari between 2015 and 2023, you will agree with me that that government actually seemed to have performed better in terms of, you know, rolling out poverty reduction programs than the Bola Tinubu administration when it comes to the issues of tackling poverty.

“Since the sack of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Beta Edu, whom I think was actually doing well for the Bola Tinubu administration, the appointments that have gone to the poverty alleviation and humanitarian ministry under Tinubu have been very poor. We don’t see so much focus on reduction of poverty,” Sambo said.

He urged the Tinubu administration to take the criticism seriously and prioritise poverty alleviation measures.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe, has berated activist-politician, Omoyele Sowore for calling President Bola Tinubu a criminal.

Igbokwe charged Sowore to withdraw the shameful scurrilous comment and apologize to Tinubu.

Posting on X, Igbokwe reminded Sowore that Tinubu is not his mate, adding that the president has done more positive exploits than him.

He wrote: “I got to know Sowore through my good friend Mr Peter Claver. Both of them graduated from the University of Lagos. We have been friends for years and we have reasoned together and interacted for years.

“However I was stunned into disbelief and in total shock when he called a seating President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, PBAT a criminal.

“I advised him to withdraw the shameful scurrilous drivels and apologize to the President. Up till now he has not found the need to apologize to the President and Nigerians who elected him as president.

“PBAT is not his mate.
