Hundreds of Kano residents cheered Emir Muhammad Sanusi II on Sunday as he led the traditional after-prayers Eid procession, chanting, “There is only one Emir in Kano.”
The traditional after Eid prayers procession was not among the activities banned by the police.
The emir proceeded with the customary post-Eid prayer procession as an optional means to meet and greet his subjects, following the banning of the main Durbar, where he would have had a chance to speak to the Kanawa’s.
Sanusi set out from the Eid prayer ground at Kofar Mata, passing through Kofar Wambai, Zage, and Shahuchi before arriving at Shettima’s residence, where he was received by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other government officials.
Reports indicate that the massive crowd that gathered to welcome the emir expressed great joy as they watched him and his entourage pass by.

Zelensky noted that Russia is dragging out the war, adding that Ukraine will continue to provide its “partners with full information on the strikes the Russian army is carrying out and the actions it is preparing for”.
“We expect a response from the United States, Europe and all our allies to this terror against our people,” he added.
The president thanked “all the leaders and states who understand this and continue their support”, stressing that the “stability and predictability of support for Ukraine are crucial”.
