The Sokoto State Government has launched the sauki shop initiative, offering a 30% subsidy on essential commodities for civil servants to ease the rising cost of living.

The initiative, backed by ₦757 million approved by the State Executive Council, aims to make food and household essentials more affordable for workers across the state.

According to Abba Mualledi, the Commissioner for Skills Acquisition, the government is committed to improving citizens’ welfare through measures that enhance affordability and accessibility of daily necessities.

In addition to the subsidy program, the state government also approved the purchase of ultrasound machines for nine general hospitals to improve healthcare services, especially in rural areas.

It also approved the construction of a pedestrian bridge along Tsafe Road to boost road safety and the renovation of mosques and an Islamic school to promote education and religious values.

These initiatives are part of the state’s ₦119 billion supplementary budget, which includes funds for road rehabilitation and infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing overall development.
