Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari of enabling unprecedented levels of corruption, specifically criticizing the presidential pardons granted to ex-governors Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame, both convicted of embezzlement.

Obasanjo alleged that former Attorney General Abubakar Malami played a key role in these pardons, suggesting that the process was influenced by corruption.

In response, Malami dismissed these claims, stating that the pardon process is governed by a designated committee responsible for such decisions, and his role was limited to presenting the committee’s report to the Council of State.

Malami emphasized that allegations of corruption should be substantiated with specific evidence, criticizing the trend of baseless accusations against public officials.

The Federal Government also refuted Obasanjo’s criticisms, defending the Buhari administration’s record on anti-corruption efforts and infrastructure projects.
