The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confiscated 98 cartons of unregistered herbal medicines for safe disposal following a targeted market surveillance operation in parts of Accra.
The operation, which took place from 22 to 24 November 2025, covered areas including Awoshie and Boundary Road.
The seized products identified by the Authority are Amenazel Herbal Tonic, Amenazel Herbal Bitters and Poget Herbal Mixture.
In a stern warning to non-compliant traders, the FDA has vowed to intensify its crackdown. “To those selling unregistered products… sooner than you think we will get to you,” the Authority stated.
The FDA has reiterated that the sale of all herbal medicines requires prior market authorization from the agency, a process that ensures the safety, quality and efficacy of the products for public consumption.
