Sexual harassment: Address Natasha Akpoti’s allegations, your wife a distraction – Atiku’s aide to Akpabio

Sexual harassment: Address Natasha Akpoti’s allegations, your wife a distraction – Atiku’s aide to Akpabio

Paul Ibe, Media Aide to former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday described the remarks by the wife of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Unoma faulting the sexual harassment allegations against her husband as a distraction.

Ibe wondered why Akpabio was relegated to the background while his wife came forward to confront Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Natasha had accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and intimidation which became public after a sitting rearrangement row on the floor of the Senate.

The matter took another turn on Friday when the female lawmaker made startling revelations about how Akpabio made sexual overtures at her.

She claimed that her refusal led to intimidations, her motions denied, and some of her privileges also withdrawn from her.

Responding, Akpabio wife, Unoma accused the lawmaker of lying, while wondering if she got the permission of her husband before making such allegations against the Senate President.

Consequently, she instituted a N350 billion lawsuits against Natasha at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

Reacting, Ibe challenged Akpabio to address the allegations himself.

Posting on X, he wrote: “The last time I checked, the allegations of sexual harassment, intimidation, and maltreatment that Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made was against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and not his wife, Mrs Ekaette Akpabio.

“Where then lies the locus in the N350 billion suits the wife of the Senate President filed against Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan? Her action is, at best, a distraction and drama.

“Why is Sen. Akpabio now consigned to the bench while his wife is assigned the striker’s role? The allegations against Akpabio are weighty and are better addressed by him and not third parties.

“It is also laughable for Mrs Ekaette Akpabio to suggest that Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan needed permission from her husband before making the allegations against the Senate President on @ARISEtv. The only people that Natasha needed to get a clearance from, if need be, are her constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial district.”

Sexual harassment: I’ve concrete evidence – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan dares Akpabio’s wife

Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Saturday declared that she has “concrete evidence” to substantiate her sexual harassment allegations against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Natasha Akpoti made the remark while calling on Akpabio’s wife, Unoma to distance herself from the sexual allegations controversy involving the Senate president.

Crisis between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio started when she refused a reassigned sitting arrangement on the floor of the senate.

The matter took another twist on Friday when she reeled out details of how Akpabio victimized her for refusing his sexual advances.

She claimed that the Senate President refused taking her motions, maligned, and intimidated her for refusing his sexual overtures.

Reacting, Unoma accused Natasha of creating content for her personal gains, stressing that the lawmakers was lying against her husband.

However, in a legal letter dated March 1, 2025, and addressed to Unoma through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, the Kogi Central Senator charged her to stay off the matter for her own sanity.

The letter was titled “Stay Away from Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sexual Harassment and Intimidation Allegation Against Sen. President Godswill Akpabio; To Safeguard Your Sanity and That of Your Family.”

She insisted that the allegations were directed only at Akpabio and that he should be the one to defend himself.

The letter said: “Our client has concrete evidence to substantiate her allegations. We suggest that you leave the defense of these allegations to the Senate President to maintain your sanity and that of your family.”

Meanwhile, Unoma has sued Natasha for defamation and fundamental rights infringement at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

She is demanding N350 billion from Natasha as damages.
