US: We’ve cancelled $291.3m to be spent LGBTQ, Colombian empowerment, others – Elon Musk’s DOGE

The United States, US, Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, under the leadership of Elon Musk, on Thursday listed cancelled items that would have been been funded by taxpayers.

DOGE said $60 million would have been spent for the Indigenous People and Afro-Colombian empowerment.

It said $3.3M would have been spent on LGBTQI but were cancelled.

Posting on X, the newly established agency said $25,000 would have been spent to increase “Vegan Local Climate Action Innovation” in Zambia.”

The post reads: “US taxpayer dollars were going to be spent on the following items, all which have been cancelled:

“$60M for “Indigenous Peoples and Afro-Colombian empowerment”

“$74M for “inclusive justice” in Colombia

“$79M for “primary literacy” in Kenya

“$37M for “female empowerment” in Colombia

“$8M to “Reduce stigma, discrimination, and violence against LGBTQI+ communities” in Lesotho

“$3.3M for “being LGBTQI in the Caribbean”

“$25k to increase “Vegan Local Climate Action Innovation” in Zambia.”

The US president, Donald Trump established DOGE on January 20 to slash federal spending.

Since its establishment, DOGE said it saved more than $1 billion by canceling diversity, equity and inclusion contracts, among other expenses.
