The Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, has caution staff of the Ministry, to avoid engaging in practices that will brew trouble for them.
He said the outcome of last year’s election, has suggested to every leader to work to improve the well-being of all Ghanaians and it is therefore incumbent for every staff of the Ministry, not to find trouble for themselves and Ghanaians in the course of doing their work in order to achieve this goal.
For him, working to live a legacy should be the hallmark of every staff rather than indulging in activities which will derail the forward march of the Ministry under his watch.
According to him, he is seeking to build on the expertise of the technocrats at the Ministry but at the same time providing leadership to achieve the vision of the President
Speaking with staff of the Ministry on his first day at work on Tuesday February 11, 2025, after being sworn into office last Friday by President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central, expressed his commitment to leading the policy direction that will among others, see to building the capacity of the staff to harness their skill set.
The soft-spoken minister, further urged the staff to show good work attitude in order to reflect the aspirations they set to achieve as a Ministry under his stewardship.
Dr Pelpuo, who spoke on a wide range of issues, promised to work towards creating employment opportunities for the youth.
“Every worker deserves decent work and compensation and it is for this reason why i engaged the tripartite committee to review the minimum wage for the public sector “, he indicated.
The Ministry of Employment has 140 members of staff with four (4) departments and five (5) agencies.
