Ukrainian national power grid operator, Ukrenergo, on Monday restricted energy supplies to industry and businesses due to increased consumption in freezing weather and generation shortages after Russian missile strikes.
In a post the Telegram messenger, Ukrenergo said the restrictions will be in place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (0400-0700 GMT),
DAILY POST reports that temperatures across much of the country dropped sharply this past weekend to about minus 8 degrees Celsius (17.6 degrees Fahrenheit).
According to Ukrenergo, Ukrainian power consumption rose 1.9% on Monday versus the previous working day, Friday.
Recall that Russian forces have regularly hit Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including substations and thermal power plants, throughout its three-year invasion.
