Niger APC Leaders Seek Return of National Chairmanship Seat To N/Central

All Progressives Congress (APC)  stakeholders in Niger South yesterday joined the clamour for the national chairmanship position to return to the North Central geo-political zone

Secretary of Concerned Stakeholders of APC from Niger South senatorial district Magana Bello who recalled that position was originally given to the region, lamented that the North Central zone has been neglected, stressing without compensation since the leadership shift.

Addressing a news conference in Bida yesterday, Bello said, “During the 2022 APC National Convention, the party had zoned the National Chairman position to the North Central region, leading to the election of Abdullahi Adamu.

However, following Adamu’s resignation in 2023, Ganduje from Kano in the North West was appointed to the position, which left the North Central region without representation at the top party level.”

He said they are now seeking justice for their region and  therefore urged party leaders to support  and work for the return of the National Chairmanship position to the North Central.

He added that in view of the request, the Niger South APC stakeholders have endorsed Professor Mohammed Kailani to contest for the position of APC national chairman.

Magana stated that Kailani, who hails from Umaru Majigi (B) ward in Bida Local Government, is a seasoned politician and academic, having previously contested for Governor and House of Representatives seats  under the ANPP.

He said  Kailani played a significant role in the victory of former President Muhammadu Buhari and currently serves as the Chairman of the Tinubu/Shettima Movement, as well as the Director of Media and Publicity for the One Nation for Tinubu/Shettima Movement.

The APC stakeholders secretary appealed to President Tinubu to address the zoning issues and restore the National Chairmanship to the North Central region during the upcoming NEC meeting.
