13 political parties to contest in Ondo LG polls

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC, has released the names of the political parties that will partake in the local government elections coming up on 18th January 2025.

The Commissioner in charge of Communication, Media and Information Technology, Tunde Adeleye, released the list of the political parties on Friday in Akure, the state capital.

Adeleye said that at the end of the screening exercise that took place at the ODIEC Headquarters on Friday 27th, December, 2024, 13 political parties were cleared to take part in the election for the chairmanship position in the 18 LGAs, and councillorship positions in the 203 wards of the state.

The Media Officer of the Commission, Bisi Lawani, stated that the list of screened and cleared political parties was released by ODIEC on January 1st, 2025.

According to him, the political parties are:

Action Democratic Party, ADP.
Action People’s Party, APP.
All Progressive Congress, APC.
All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Boot party, BP.
Labour Party, LP.
New Nigeria People Party, NNPP.
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Young Progressive Party, YPP.
Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.
Action Alliance, AA.
National Rescue Movement, NRM.

The state electoral commission also disclosed that campaigns by political parties which commenced of 26th December, 2024, will end on 16th January, 2025.
